In Memory of Marie Adele Kime

David’s Beloved Sister

1961 — 2005

In November of 2005, David lost his sister Marie to Cancer.   She was a young forty-four years old at the time of her passing.  He has subsequently written a book of poetry in her memory entitled “The Marie Poems” .  Some of those “Marie Poems” by David are included here on this page.

Languages

David Kime

Everywhere we went

Driving around

Down the Boulevard

To dad’s house

To the City of Brotherly Love

You’d extend your arm out of the window

And flash people

With two fingers and a thumb

What does that mean I asked

“I love you in sign language” you said

You loved everybody

Like a peace child would

And you loved languages

You wrote poems in French

And even did a chapbook

Full of these French poems

“Should I get a hundred copies made”

you asked?

“No” I said

“Who in America could read them?”

Little Miss Inappropriate

David Kime

There you stood

Little Miss Inappropriate

In front of a bunch of

horny headed grown men

at the drop in center.

“Do you want to see my

Hello Kitty panties?

you asked.

And before anyone could answer

You lifted up your dress

Exposing your Hello Kitty panties

In all their glory.

You didn’t understand

Why the drop-in center director

sent you a letter

citing you for inappropriate actions

“I just showed my underwear,”

You said.  “No big deal.”

Wretched Hospital Bed

David Kime

You laid there in that wretched hospice bed

Life quickly slipping away

You awakened to see my tears

“Why are you crying David” you asked

“You” I mumbled softly

“The doctors are crazy David.

I don’t have cancer.”

I wanted to believe you

God knows how I wanted to believe you

To believe that the whole thing was some kind of

medical mishap

That the cat Scans were wrong

That they were all wrong

That you, my precious sister

My best friend

My comrade in the struggle to end oppression

That no one could replace

wasn’t dying

It was all some medical delusion

God knows I wanted to believe

But you left this Earth

That November morning

Proving that my tears did not fall in vain.

The Space Creatures Are Landing

David Kime

I remember how we cruised around

Fallsington one crisp Autumn day

When we passed the elementary school

and the police headquarters you said

“David.  See that concrete circular pod thing.

That is where the space creature

flying saucer will land.”

“How do you know that Marie?” I asked.

“I just do, David.  Isn’t it obvious.  It is the

perfect spot for space creatures to land

in America.  This is historic Fallsington.

Just look at the history.  This is the

birthplace of America, David.

Where else would space creatures land?”

I signed and thought to myself.

I bet she is right.  Now that she’s gone

whenever I pass that sacred Alien

Landing pos I think of her and how much

she loved life and things like space creatures.

So much love in her heart.

So much love.
